The Pneumococcal Vaccine helps prevent infections caused by the Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria, which may cause pneumonia as well as infections of the ear, brain and blood.

Pneumococcal Polysaccharide Vaccine (PPSV23) protects against 23 strains. It may also be recommended for people who have weakened immune systems due to cancer, HIV/AIDS, or other conditions.

It is an important part of routine adult immunisation schedules.

Dosage Information:

Patients aged 65 years and above should be administered with the PCV13 vaccine before the PPSV23 vaccine not less than 12 months later.
